We all have different needs and goals, therefore not every class is meant for every student. First, we need to learn the fundamentals of yoga, so that our practice bears fruit and we evolve and affect positive change. Yoga has the potential to improve focus and concentration, brighten our mood and access deeper levels of calm, help us sleep better, reduce pain and stiffness as well as allowing for more oxygen throughout the body. My students have shared many stories with me of wonderful improvements both on and off the mat -this is why I teach!

For several years I was a huge fan of Asha’s weekly class at a local rec center, appreciating her attention to both our physical and spiritual wellness. It was clear she was a yoga veteran with decades of experience even in India. Even in a class of 10 or 15, she took time for individual adjustments and always provided ways for members to make their practice safer and less strenuous, or more challenging, as desired. When Covid hit, I stepped back from yoga and didn’t pursue online options, but a worsening health issue made me approach Asha about private instruction. Since we began she has insisted on virus safety, always wearing a mask, social-distancing as much as possible, and meeting me in well-ventilated indoor areas, or even outside on my deck. My personal meditation practice for the past 28 years informs all that I do. It grounds me in my being and life in a way that allows for space. Space in my being as well as space in my interactions with others.  One of my favorite benefits I experience from being a regular meditator is mental clarity. This is a priceless gift especially in this age of over stimulation and distraction. Being able to focus and rest my awareness within is one of the greatest blessings in my life.
